About your cleaning

A cleaning and an exam in one visit

At a teeth cleaning visit, the hygienist cleans and polishes your teeth, checks your gums, and takes digital X-rays when they’re due. Then Dr. Sophie, Dr. Nazli or Dr. Khadi does your exam, so you get both done in one appointment. Most people come every six months. If you’ve had gum disease, you may need a cleaning every three or four months to keep it under control. We’ll tell you which one fits you.

What we check

What happens at your cleaning

Every cleaning covers the same ground, whether it’s your first visit with us or your twentieth.

Tartar removal

The hygienist removes hardened tartar from above and below the gumline, which brushing at home can’t reach.

She measures the small gaps between your gums and teeth. That’s how early gum disease gets caught.

Digital X-rays

Taken when they’re due, not at every visit. They show decay between teeth and under fillings.
